This journey begins in Santa Monica, California during the late 1970s when a family spread themselves across three continents. Joann Roberts quit her job at a Santa Monica newspaper and joined the U.S. Peace Corps. She was assigned to a two year tour in Lesotho, a small country in southern Africa. Mike Roberts moved to West Germany to further his music career. Bill and Pat Roberts remained in the U.S. until Pat had earned enough money to travel overland from his mother's (Joann) house to his brother's (Mike). The following is a collection of letters, from Joann to her mother, relating her experiences as a Peace Corps volunteer adjusting to life in Lesotho.
